Albania Trade Gap Widens 10% YoY in September
Albania’s trade deficit rose to ALL 27 billion in September of 2019 from ALL 25 billion in the same month of the previous year, as exports fell 5.5 percent to ALL 25 billion while imports went up 2.0 percent to ALL 52 billion. In the first nine months of 2019, the trade gap widened to ALL 256 billion from ALL 236 billion in the corresponding period of 2018.

Albania’s trade deficit rose by 13.3 percent to ALL 31.5 billion in August of 2019 from ALL 27.8 billion in the same month of the previous year, as exports fell 2 percent to ALL 20 billion while imports went up 6.8 percent to ALL 52 billion.

Albania Trade Deficit Widens Slightly in July
Albania’s trade deficit widened to ALL 31.8 billion in July 2019 from ALL 31.4 billion in the same month of the previous year. Imports rose 2.3% year-on-year to ALL 59.5 billion boosted by higher purchases of mineral, fuels & electricity (20.3%); food, beverages & tobacco (6.2%); and textile & footwear (6.1%). Meantime, purchases of machinery, equipment & spare parts declined 1.2%. Among major trading partners, imports advanced from Italy (2.7%), Greece (11%) and Turkey (4.3%) but decreased from China (-2.3%), Spain (-28%) and Russia (-66.6%). Exports increased 3.6% to ALL 27.7 billion driven by sales of food, beverages & tobacco (34.9%); mineral, fuels & electricity (18.6%) and chemical & plastical products (60.7%) while sales of construction materials & metals dropped (-5.3%). Exports went up to Spain (42.1%), Germany (17.1%) and Kosovo (7.3%) but fell to Italy (-3.6%) and Montenegro (-19.3%).

Albania Trade Gap Widens Slightly in June
The trade deficit in Albania increased to ALL 27.9 billion in June 2019 from ALL 27.5 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports fell 4.4% to ALL 25 billion, dragged down by lower sales of textile & footwear (-0.9%); machinery, equipment & spare parts (-7.3 percent) and minerals, fuels & electricity (-21.1%) while increases were recorded in shipments of food, beverages & tobacco (10.2%). Among major trading partners, exports fell to Kosovo (-9.9%) and Greece (-1.8%) while those went up to Italy (0.3%). Meantime, imports went down 1.5 percent to ALL 53 billion, due to lower purchases of machinery, equipment & spare parts (-7.4%); food, beverages & tobacco (-4.0%) and chemical & plastical products (-9.5%) while imports rose for mineral, fuels & electricity (23%). Imports fell from Italy (-8.9%) and Greece (-10.6%) while those went up from China (11.4%)

Albania Trade Deficit Widens in May
The trade gap in Albania rose to ALL 31 billion in May of 2019 from ALL 27 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports fell 8.2% to ALL 28 billion, dragged down by lower sales of textiles & footwear (-6.9%); minerals, fuels, electricity (-19.8%); construct, materials & metals (-14.8%) and food, beverages & tobacco (-1.3%). Meanwhile, imports increased 3.8% to ALL 59 billion, boosted by purchases of textiles & footwear (+4.7%); construct, materials & metals (+13.3%) and minerals, fuels & electricity (+33.1 percent). On the other hand, imports dropped for machinery, equipment & parts (-2.6%) and food, beverages & tobacco (-3.1%).

Albania Trade Gap Widens Slightly in April
The trade deficit in Albania increased to ALL 30 billion in April 2019 from ALL 26 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports fell 0.2% to ALL 27 billion, dragged down by lower sales of mineral, fuels & electricity (-36.9%) while increases were recorded in shipments of machinery equipment (45.8%); construction materials & metals (12.9%) and food, beverages & tobacco (17%). Among major trading partners, exports fell to Italy (-5.7%), the US (-6.7%) and Switzerland (-96.9%) while those increased to Kosovo (70.4%). Imports went up 8.4 percent to ALL 57 billion, due to higher purchases of construction materials & metals (28.3%); minerals, fuels and electricity (32.1%) and machinery equipment (10.5%) while imports dropped for chemical & plastic products (-8.1%). Imports rose from Turkey (19.4%), Greece (36.5%) and China (62.9%) while those went down from Italy (-6.7%).
