Kuwait Inflation Rate Slows in October
The annual inflation rate in Kuwait edged down to 1.5 percent in October of 2019 from 1.7 percent in the prior month. Housing cost continued to fall (-0.9 percent vs -0.8 percent in September) while prices slowed for food & beverages (1.3 percent vs 1.8 percent); furniture & household equipment (3.1 percent vs 3.3 percent); communication (4.7 percent vs 5.4 percent) and health (2.8 percent vs 2.9 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for clothing & footwear (2.4 percent vs 2.3 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (2.2 percent vs 2.1 percent) and recreation & culture (3.2 percent vs 3.0 percent) while inflation was steady for transport (at 4.5 percent) and education (at 3.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices showed no growth, after increasing percent in the prior month.

Kuwait Inflation Rate at Near 2-1/2 Year High of 1.7%
Kuwait' annual inflation rate increased to 1.7 percent in September of 2019 from 1.2 percent in the previous month. This was the highest inflation rate since May 2017, as prices advanced faster for food & beverages (1.8 percent vs 1.1 percent in August); furniture & household equipment (3.3 percent vs 2.6 percent); clothing & footwear (2.3 percent vs 1.7 percent); transport (4.5 percent vs 4.4 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (2.1 percent vs 1.4 percent); education (3.9 percent vs 2.4 percent); communication (5.4 percent vs 4.9 percent), and health (2.9 percent vs 2.5 percent). Meantime, prices went up softer for recreation & culture (3.0 percent vs 3.5 percent). On the other hand, housing cost continued to decline (-0.8 percent, the same pace as in August). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4 percent, after increasing 0.2 percent in the prior month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.2 percent, after a flat reading in the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Kuwait edged down to 0.7 percent in April of 2019 from 0.8 percent in the prior month. Prices slowed mostly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.9 percent vs 1 percent in March); furnishing & household equipment (2.2 percent vs 2.4 percent) and cigarettes & tobacco (1.6 percent vs 9 percent), while they fell for housing (-0.6 percent, the same pace as in March); miscellaneous goods & services (-0.4 percent vs -0.5 percent) and restaurants & hotels (-0.2 percent, the same pace as in March). Meantime, inflation remained steady for transport (at 1.9 percent); recreation & culture (at 2 percent) and education (at 1.9 percent). In contrast, cost rose further for clothing & footwear (0.5 percent vs 0.4 percent) and health (2.9 percent vs 2.8 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat, after decreasing 0.2 percent in the previous month.
