Senegal Inflation Rate Steady at 1.3%
The annual inflation rate in Senegal came in at 1.3 percent in November 2019, unchanged from the previous month. Prices slowed mostly for clothing & footwear (0.8 percent vs 1.0 percent in October); transport (1.7 percent vs 1.9 percent) and alcoholic beverages, tobacco & narcotics (4 percent vs 6.1 percent). Meanwhile, cost rose faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percent vs 0.7 percent); housing & utilities (0.4 percent vs 0.2 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.0 percent vs 0.9 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.8 percent vs 1.4 percent) and recreation & culture (0.6 percent vs 0.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3 percent, after increasing 0.4 percent in the previous month.

Senegal October Inflation Rate Quickens to 1.3%
The annual inflation rate in Senegal rose to 1.3 percent in October 2019 from 0.7 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.7 percent vs 0.1 percent in September); housing & utilities (0.2 percent, after being flat in the prior month); clothing & footwear (1 percent vs 0.9 percent) and transport (1.9 percent, the same pace as in September). Conversely, cost slowed for miscellaneous goods & services (0.9 percent vs 1.1 percent) and recreation & culture (0.4 percent vs 0.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.4 percent, the same pace as in the previous month.

Senegal Inflation Rate at 7-Month Low of 0.7%
The annual inflation rate in Senegal eased to 0.7 percent in September 2019 from 1.3 percent in the previous month. This is the lowest inflation rate since February, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.1 percent vs 0.8 percent in August); clothing & footwear (0.9 percent vs 1.3 percent); transport (1.9 percent vs 2.0 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (7.7 percent vs 9.9 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.3 percent vs 1.7 percent) and recreation & culture (0.5 percent vs 0.7 percent). Meantime, cost was unchanged for housing & utilities (vs 0.2 percent) but rose faster for miscellaneous goods & services (1.1 percent vs 0.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.4 percent, down from a 1.9 percent rise in the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Senegal rose to 1.3 percent in August 2019 from 1.1 percent in the previous month, mainly due to prices of clothing & footwear (1.3 percent vs 0.2 percent in July); transport (2.0 percent vs 1.8 percent); health (1.5 percent vs -0.3 percent) and communication (2.9 percent vs 0.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 1.9 percent, after increasing 0.3 percent in the prior month.

Senegal Inflation Rate Drops to 1.1% in July
The annual inflation rate in Senegal fell to 1.1 percent in July 2019 from 2.1 percent in the previous month, as prices slowed mostly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.3 percent vs 3.3 percent in June) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (10.6 percent vs 13.7 percent). In addition, cost dropped for furnishings (-0.1 percent vs 0.2 percent) and health (-0.3 percent vs 0.3 percent). Meanwhile, inflation edged higher for housing & utilities (0.3 percent vs 0.1 percent); transport (1.8 percent vs 0.6 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (0.9 percent vs 0.3 percent) and restaurants & hotels (1.7 percent vs 1.6 percent). Also, prices rebounded slightly for clothing & footwear (0.2 percent vs -0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.3 percent, after increasing 0.4 percent in the preceding month.

Senegal Inflation Rate at Over 2-Year High of 2.1%
The annual inflation rate in Senegal rose to 2.1 percent in June 2019 from 1.5 percent in the prior month. It was the highest inflation rate since April 2017, as prices increased faster mainly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.3 percent vs 2.2 percent in May) and restaurants & hotels (1.6 percent vs 0.8 percent). In addition, cost rebounded for transport (0.6 percent vs -0.3 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (0.3 percent vs -0.5 percent). Meanwhile, prices slowed for housing & utilities (0.1 percent vs 0.4 percent); recreation & culture (1.0 percent vs 1.2 percent); furnishings (0.2 percent vs 0.6 percent); and dropped for clothing & footwear (-0.2 percent vs -0.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.4 percent, after being flat in the previous month.
