Slovak Inflation Rate at Near 7-Year High of 3%
Annual inflation rate in Slovakia rose to 3.0 percent in November 2019 from 2.7 percent in the previous month, in line with market estimates. It was the highest inflation rate since December 2012, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.3 percent vs 4.8 percent in October); recreation & culture (2.3 percent vs 1.8 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.0 percent vs 2.7 percent) and furnishings (1.8 percent vs 1.6 percent). In addition, cost rebounded for transport (0.8 percent vs -1.2 percent). On the other hand, inflation slowed mostly for housing & utilities (3.7 percent vs 3.8 percent); communication (1.8 percent vs 2.3 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (3.5 percent vs 4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2 percent, after dropping 0.1 percent in the prior month and matching market expectations.

Slovakia Annual Inflation Rate at 4-Month Low
Annual inflation rate in Slovakia decreased to 2.7 percent in October of 2019 from 2.9 percent in the previous month and below market expectations of a 2.8 percent gain. It was the lowest inflation rate since June, as cost slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.7 percent vs 2.8 percent); furniture & household equipment (1.6 percent vs 1.8 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (2.7 percent vs 2.8 percent) while transport cost fell (-1.2 percent vs 0.4 percent). On the other hand, inflation was steady for housing & utilities (at 3.8 percent) while prices advanced faster for recreation & culture (1.8 percent vs 1.6 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (4.0 percent vs 3.8 percent) and restaurants & hotels (1.6 percent vs 1.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.1 percent, following a 0.1 gain in September and in line with market expectations.

Slovak Inflation Rate Edges Up to 2.9%
Slovakia's consumer price inflation rose to 2.9 percent in September 2019 from 2.8 percent in the previous month and matching market expectations, mainly due to prices of miscellaneous goods & services (3.8% vs 3.5% in August); transport (0.4% vs -1.9%) and education (4.8% vs 1.5%). Meantime, inflation was steady for housing & utilities (at 3.8%); communication (at 2.3%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (at 2.8%). On the other hand, prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.9% vs 5.2%); clothing & footwear (0.9% vs 1.7%); recreation & culture (1.6% vs 1.8%) and restaurants & hotels (1.3% vs 3.7%). The core inflation, which excludes volatile items, rose to 2.6 percent, it highest level in nearly a year, from 2.4 percent in August, slightly above forecasts of 2.5 percent. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.1 percent and the core index advanced 0.2 percent.

Slovak Inflation Rate Below Forecasts
Slovakia's consumer price inflation edged down to 2.8 percent in August 2019 from a 15-month high of 2.9 percent in the previous month and slightly below market expectations of 2.9 percent. Miscellaneous goods & services prices rose at a softer pace (3.5 percent vs 3.6 percent) while inflation was unchanged for housing & utilities (at 3.8 percent), recreation & culture (at 1.8 percent) and furnishings, household equipment & maintenance (at 1.5 percent). In addition, transport costs continued to fall (-1.9 percent vs -1.5 percent), while food and non-alcoholic beverages prices rose further (5.2 percent vs 4.7 percent). The core inflation, which excludes volatile items, stood at 2.4 percent, also below forecasts of 2.5 percent. On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.2 percent and the core index rose 0.1 percent.

Slovak Inflation Rate Rises to 15-Month High in July
Annual inflation rate in Slovakia increased to 2.9 percent in July of 2019 from 2.6 percent in the previous month and above market expectations of 2.7 percent. It was the highest inflation rate since April of 2018, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.7 percent vs 3.9 percent in June); recreation & culture (1.8 percent vs 1.6 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.6 percent vs 3.0 percent); furniture & household equipment (1.5 percent vs 1.3 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (2.7 percent vs 2.3 percent); clothing & footwear (1.3 percent vs 1.0 percent) and communication (5.0 percent vs 3.0 percent). In addition, transport cost fell less (-1.5 percent vs -2.3 percent). Meanwhile, cost slowed for housing & utilities (3.8 percent vs 4.1 percent); restaurants & hotels (3.7 percent vs 4.0 percent) and health (0.8 percent vs 2.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.1 percent, the same pace as in June.

Slovakia Inflation Rate Slows in June
Slovakia's consumer price inflation rate eased to 2.6 percent year-on-year in June 2019 from 2.7 percent in the previous month and slightly below market expectations of 2.7 percent. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance cost increased at a softer rate (1.3 percent vs 1.4 percent) and transport prices dropped further (-2.3 percent vs -0.5 percent). On the other hand, inflation was unchanged for housing & utilities (at 4.1 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (at 3.9 percent) while prices rose faster for both recreation and culture (1.6 percent vs 1.3 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (3 percent vs 2.7 percent). The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile items, came in at 2.2 percent, also below market consensus of 2.3 percent. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent, compared to 0.4 percent in May.
